What is the token?

Threshold (T) is a utility token for the Threshold Network, which emerged from the merger of the NuCypher (NU) and Keep Network (KEEP) tokens. The network aims to enhance the security and privacy of blockchain technology through threshold cryptography, allowing operations to be distributed across multiple nodes. This decentralized approach increases security, reduces reliance on trusted parties, and ensures privacy on public blockchains. Threshold’s first significant application is tBTC, a decentralized, wrapped version of Bitcoin on Ethereum, facilitating the use of BTC in Ethereum’s DeFi ecosystem. The network plans to expand its offerings with more cross-chain assets and applications that leverage its threshold cryptographic services.
